Hi all
OS X Yosemite follows OS X Maverick in Apple's long line of the OS X operating system. Although each new version of OS X contains updates and changes, OS X Yosemite boasts of improvements that add beauty and power, but also increase functionality or usability of your Apple device. A sheet asks for your Apple ID and password. Type them in the appropriate fields; click Sign In, and your Yosemite installation (or reinstallation) begins. The operating system takes 30 to 60 minutes to install, so now might be a good time to take a coffee break. When the install is finished, your Mac restarts itself.
Yosemite OS X is the 11th release of Mac OS X (now known as OS X) lineup of operating systems. The 10.10 version released and announced on 2 June 2014 by Apple Inc. The name Yosemite represents a national park in California. Apple adapted California Landmarks naming scheme by introducing Mavericks OS X on 10th June 2013. Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 is another product in Apple’s line of Mac OS X. Apple, in its line of amazing Mac OX titles, launched the Mac OS Yosemite 10.10 which took the world by storm. It’s new improved features allow even greater synchronization between iPhones and Macs when using the Internet.
I am trying to reinstall OS X Yosemite onto a MacBook Pro Late 2008 version. We are selling the Mac, and have conducted the steps described in 'What to do before selling or giving away your Mac', i.e. deauthorizing from iTunes etc, and erasing all data from the harddrive. I am using an ethernet connection.
When trying to install Yosemite, after entering my Apple ID and password, I keep getting the message 'This item is temporarily unavailable'.

I found members stating that this can be due to the App Store being flooded with requests, but this has been going on for three days now, and I find that a bit unusal. Especially since the first installation onto our old Mac took one evening.
Thank you all for any help and advice you can provide!

However, when you make your Mac simply sleep, anyone who has access to the computer can wake up your Mac. For that reason, you can also log out of your user name. Your Mac will still go to sleep on its own, but when you wake it up you will have to log in using your Apple ID.
To logout, go to >Logout.

You will then see a confirmation box that looks like this:

If you leave the checkmark beside 'Reopen windows when logging back in,' every program you have running and every window you have open will open again when you log back into your Mac. Uncheck the box if you do not want this to happen, then click the Log Out button.
If you want to shut down your Mac instead, which means turning it off completely, go to >Shutdown.
Decide if you want all programs and windows to reopen when you turn your Mac back on, then click the Shut Down button.
Click the Shut Down button to shut down your Mac.
If you want to restart your Mac, go to Apple >Restart.
